GENERAL ACADEMIC UPDATES:

• New:  Revised Academic Personnel Policy now out regarding policies to codify certain sick leave and medical leave provisions for academic appointees, establish a systemwide framework to support the University’s commitment to reasonable accommodation for academic appointees who are disabled or who become disabled, and introduce a medical separation policy for academic appointees.  See notice of June 24th 2008 for details and links.

• New: Jeanne Ferrante, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Associate Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering, has been appointed as the first Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Equity (AVC-FE), effective July 1, 2008.

• New:  Please see the SVCAA notice of April 10, 2007 regarding proposed updates to the PPM 230-28 that include many changes regarding the Assistant Professor tenure clock, as well as the draft of the proposed "re-engaging ladder faculty" section.  The full draft of this policy is available online.  June 8th is the last day to send comments.

• The link to the Report of the Joint Multidisciplinary Task Force was sent out in the notice of May 21, 2007.  Take a look.  :)

• Also, the APM has proposed revisions on a variety of subjects.  Please see campus notice of April 20, 2007.  

• The UCSD Integrity of Research policy was updated effective 3/1/06. See the memo of 3/14/06 for details.

• Proposal approved to recognize Above Scale faculty with the title Distinguished Professor.  Please see the notice of 11/18/04 for details.

• UCSD now permits e-mail as official mode of communication with students. See the memo of 9/3/04 for details.
